Artist: Arnie Ziegler
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have to tell all our friends that Arnie passed away on June 20, 2010
in hospital after losing his battle with pneumonia.
Arnie Ziegler has lived in Oliver since 1992 and came here as the NCO in Charge of the local RCMP Detachment. After seven years, he retired worked for the BC Coroner Service as a Community Coroner until August 2007.
During his 32 years in the RCMP he was a Forensic artist for 15 of those years, working mainly in the Okanagan Valley and Kootenay's.
Arnie is a self taught artist and enjoys the medium of pencil as well as pen and ink. He had taken several lessons in oil painting while stationed in Kamloops and has produced several oil paintings, one of which was used as the official painting of the 1991 "Cattle Drive" in Kamloops.
Arnie is presently learning to do watercolours but admits that his first love is drawing. His subjects usually include horses and cattle and this was inspired by his 6 years working as an investigator for the RCMP livestock Section. He contributes his talent for drawing as a God given gift and uses this to teach others during his drawing classes that he holds throughout the year at the Oliver Sagebrushers art centre. Arnie does commission work and can be contacted in Oliver via the E-mail link below.
